The fight against Sarcoidosis is very personal to me...

In 1996 I lost my mother, who struggled for more than 13 years with this disease. She was a strong and courageous woman who never let the pain of Sarcoidosis affect her spirit or touch her soul. The way she lived her life was a great lesson to me - that we must accept the things we cannot change and fight hard to change the things we can. From this lesson grew the Life and Breath Foundation.

The Life and Breath Foundation was founded in 1998 to help support, guide, and inform the many individuals who suffer with the disease as well as supporting the clinical research of Sarcoidosis.

So little is known about this disease and so many people suffer every day because of it. Through my work with the foundation, I have been overwhelmed by the outpouring of letters, calls, and e-mails we have received. Many are sent as a thank-you for our work, but too often they are sent because people have few other places to turn for support and understanding.

Everyday I learn more about what this disease is capable of doing. I also know what your support can help deliver in the way of hope, knowledge, andsomedaya cure.

Turning these events into a reality has been a task rested upon the shoulders of my family, friends and colleagues. Without their guidance and hard work, none of this would be possible. Thank you all.
